It’s clear that those who have an exclusive house with a garden are in a slightly easier situation here, but that doesn’t mean that the balcony can’t fulfill, at least partially, the function of a garden. A playground on the balcony is a great idea that’s not at all difficult to implement.
A balcony is a limited space, so it’s not like you can squeeze every garden toy you can find in the store. As with most things, a change will require extensive planning. Consider what your child’s needs are. What does he or she most enjoy doing outdoors and what can’t be done indoors. Let the play space on the balcony not only be an extension of the child’s room, but also a place where you can go a little crazy. Take into account the interests of the toddler – this is better than copying corners seen on the Internet, even if they are the most beautiful.
Definitely a great option is to put on the balcony things that do not have a raison d’être in the apartment. These include, for example, a small swimming pool, in which the child will certainly enjoy spending a lot of time during the hot days. Another thing of this type is a sandpit. You do not necessarily want it in the children’s room, but even on a small balcony can confidently find its place and provide your child with hours of fun. A great idea is to place a mini kitchen on the balcony where your child can pour water freely into pots. This will certainly give him a whole lot of fun.
Are you the type of aesthetic mom who loves beautifully decorated surroundings? That’s great, because your child also likes decorations related to his favorite themes. Is he interested in space? Or maybe a safari theme would be appropriate? There are lots of options. Different mats and lights are always fun. You can also combine business with pleasure and start your own herb garden on the balcony, which will later be useful in the kitchen. This is not only practical but also looks great and is a decoration in itself.
Undoubtedly, the most important thing, however, is that it is safe to play on the balcony. While you try not to let your child out of your sight, you need to be absolutely sure that you have done everything possible to secure the space where they will be playing. Of course, the basis of this is security at the level of the railings. Try to make them constructed in such a way that the toddler can admire the world from the balcony, but so high that he will not be able to lean through them.
