Linen clothes are loved by everyone. Flax is natural, soft and has many useful properties, especially in the summer months

We are encouraged to buy linen clothes – and rightly so! There are few fabrics we can trust so much. However, are we repaying it with the same? Here are a few things you can’t forget about when you have linen clothes in your closet.

Flax – a delightful plant

The material linen is produced from the plant of the same name. So it is one hundred percent natural, but that is not the end of the benefits it brings you. Why should you take special care of linen clothes? Unlike artificial materials, linen will not stand up well to any treatment, although it is very durable in itself. In addition, it has antibacterial and anti-allergenic properties.

Wearing it in summer, you will surely notice that it perfectly removes moisture from your body – this is due to its hygroscopic powers. As if that wasn’t enough, linen is breathable and additionally… cools you down! Take good care of your linen clothes and you can be sure that they will be with you for many years.

Lesson one: laundry

First of all, pay attention to the temperature of water. If the water temperature is too high, the linen will surely shrink, and there are no exceptions to this rule. Pay attention to the label and remember not to wash linen at temperature higher than 40°C. There shouldn’t be too many clothes in the washing machine, don’t add stain remover either – if there is a stain, soak the fabric for an hour and then let the liquid detergent do the work.

Don’t use a tumble dryer – like excessive heat, it will shrink the fabric. If you have the opportunity, linen will thank you most for hanging it outside. How will it thank you? With every wash, your linen clothes will become… stronger!

Lesson two: ironing

Where there are advantages, there are also disadvantages. Linen is one of the materials that creases a lot. Not a fan of creases on your clothes? Ironing linen is only difficult if you don’t know how to go about it. The key is to iron your clothes while they are still slightly damp. Don’t iron them dry!

Heat up your iron to 200°C and run it over the surface of your clothes. The positive side? Linen takes shape when it’s damp, so if you shake the garment and hang it on a hanger to dry on its own, there’s no need to iron it!

Lesson three: storing

Once our linen clothes are washed and ironed, it’s time to store them away. Do not fold them (this way they will get crumpled again), but hang them up. It’s important that the clothes hang loosely, without any tightness in the closet. That way they will look great!

Remember that the place where you store linen is necessarily dry. It is a huge mistake to store linen clothes in vacuum bags. Pay attention to whether dust collects on the clothes. Unfortunately, this can negatively affect your clothes

Linen, like any natural material, will attract moths. So make sure your closet is stocked with products that will repel them. You probably know the best home remedies, but we suggest lavender, among others, which by the way will add an extraordinary scent to your clothes.
