Just got a greasy stain on your wall? Don’t wait a moment, grab a cloth or a sponge and wipe it right away! Only by acting fast you will get rid of the problem in a moment.

Unfortunately, if you don’t notice the stain right away or you postpone the cleaning, it won’t be so easy to remove. The troublesome grease is quickly absorbed into the structure of the paint, which raises the question – how to remove greasy stains effectively?

Potato flour

Potato flour is something that you definitely have in your kitchen cupboard. This product derived from potatoes is not only useful for thickening dishes. It also has other fascinating properties. Did you know that it is perfect for removing greasy stains?

First, you need to drain the grease with a paper towel. Press it against the wall to absorb as much of it as you can. Then, sprinkle the stain with potato flour. Talcum powder will also work as a substitute. Now, all you have to do is wait patiently, and in a few hours, wipe the wall in the dirty area with a cloth or a sponge with dishwashing liquid. The stain should be removed.

Glass cleaner

Another item that you are sure to have in your home. Glass cleaner will work great for cleaning other surfaces as well. A great example of this is just using it to get rid of an oily stain – it has grease removing properties

Pay attention to the composition of your glass cleaner. Why? If the glass cleaner you are using is made with alcohol, it may be too invasive. This means that while it would perfectly remove all the greasy stains, it would also penetrate the paint, thus destroying its coating

Cleaning stains with glass cleaner is very simple. All you have to do is spray the dirty area solidly with the liquid – don’t spare it! Your work is done, the rest will be taken care of by the product, making… the greasy stain literally evaporate. After several minutes you can enjoy a clean wall.

Baking soda

Every housewife knows about the excellent properties of baking soda. It is useful not only in the kitchen, but it is also great for cleaning and removing greasy stains from walls.

All you need to do is mix together a teaspoon of baking soda, three tablespoons of warm water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid, and then apply the resulting paste on the stained area. Rub the wall gently with a sponge or microfiber cloth until the stain disappears. It’s a good idea to leave the baking soda on the wall for about half an hour, and only then wipe it off with a damp cloth. This will give you an easy way to get rid of the stubborn stain – with an item you surely already have in your home!

Paint for greasy stains

When you feel like there’s no hope left and no home remedy has made you get rid of the stain from your wall, it’s time for a special task paint. They have amazing insulating properties against similar stains, so they are kind of a last resort for tough stains.

Before painting, it is a good idea to additionally wash the wall with painter’s soap, but it is not necessary. Paints for stains and spots on their own can work wonders. In addition, they will help you get rid of not only the stubborn grease, but also prevent the development of fungi and mold on the wall, because they effectively protect the substrate

Only white colored paints are available on the market, but nothing prevents you from changing their color with a pigment or coloring paste.
