How to grill potatoes?

When choosing potatoes, remember that not every kind is suitable for grilling. What should you avoid? Certainly do not buy old potatoes, or pull out from the cellar such that have already begun to sprout. For the barbecue, young potatoes are best, which only need to be washed and then baked together with the skin. If you buy tubers in the store, pay attention to their varieties. In the case of “older” potatoes, it is worth choosing the salad ones, named Agata, Vineta, Denar, Lord, Zenia. As for the baking time, it depends on the age of the potatoes. Young potatoes should be grilled for about 15 minutes, while older potatoes should be grilled for about 30. The process should be monitored all the time. If you have old potatoes and want them to get done faster, before putting them on the grill, it is recommended to boil them in salted water for about 10 minutes. Classic grilled potatoes

The easiest way to prepare potatoes is to grill them in aluminum foil. The material prevents the products from burning and provides an even and constant supply of heat. We described how to grill potatoes in aluminum foil step by step

  1. Wash and dry the potatoes. The tubers are always grilled in their skins
  2. Then pierce the potatoes with a fork or cut into a fan, brush with olive oil and add spices thyme, basil, dill, marjoram and sea salt. You can put cloves of garlic between the cuts
  3. Wrap the prepared tubers tightly in aluminum foil
  4. Place on a hot grill. Grill them for about 30 minutes
  5. Remember to check the condition of the potatoes in the meantime. Use a long toothpick to check continuously if they are soft enough
  6. Then remove them from the grill and enjoy their taste!

Grilled potatoes with garlic butter

Butter is a great addition to potatoes. It adds flavor and gives them a velvety texture

  1. If you want to prepare potatoes with butter, it is recommended to boil them in salted water for about 10 minutes beforehand
  2. Once the potatoes have cooled down, cut them in half or crosswise and put a teaspoon of butter on each part. Then sprinkle the halves with the spices of your choice and wrap tightly in aluminum foil
  3. Grill the potatoes for 15 minutes, checking on them all the time
  4. You can replace the regular butter with flavored butter, such as garlic or herb butter, or prepare it yourself. How to do it yourself? Let the butter sit at room temperature for 30 minutes and then mix it with the additives of your choice, it can be peppers cut into tiny pieces, parsley, chives or even sun-dried tomatoes

Grilled potatoes with bacon

Grilled potatoes with bacon are not only a great addition to dishes. Cooked this way they have a chance to become a wholesome meal that will satisfy everyone

  1. When preparing this version of potatoes, before grilling, they should be boiled in salted water for 10 minutes
  2. After cooking and cooling, the potatoes should be coated in oil or olive oil. It is then recommended to sprinkle them with thyme and rosemary
  3. If you want the spices to be strongly noticeable, it is recommended to prepare a marinade beforehand. Add your favorite spices to a few tablespoons of oil, then rub it on the boiled potatoes and let it sit for 15 minutes
  4. Wrap them in large slices of bacon. Fix the whole thing with a long toothpick
  5. Grill on the aluminum tray until the potatoes are golden and the bacon is crispy

Stuffed grilled potatoes

This is one of the most substantial dishes featured here. In this case, the potatoes should be boiled in advance, then cut in half and hollowed out

  1. It is recommended to mix the hollowed out flesh with your choice of ingredients, such as sliced sausage, vegetables, mushrooms or cottage cheese
  2. Fill the hollowed out potatoes with the prepared stuffing, sprinkle them with yellow cheese and wrap in aluminum foil
  3. Grill for 20 minutes, at the end remove the foil to make the cheese crispy
