That special time of the year is approaching when we clean, prepare delicious foods and decorate our homes. How to decorate your kitchen window and bring Christmas mood into the room? Here are some ideas for original, impressive and traditional Christmas decorations that will change your interior and make the time you spend cooking even more enjoyable!
It is customary to decorate gardens, balconies, bedrooms and living rooms for Christmas, including windows, balcony doors and shop windows. But we often forget about the kitchen, which is just as important. In order not to clutter such an important workspace in this room, it is worth deciding on window dressing. Such a decoration will create a pleasant atmosphere and will not overwhelm the people staying in the kitchen
Winter is the time of year when the sun sets very early, and also often during the day is dark. This is probably why Christmas, as a time of joy, is illuminated by a million lights and candles. A classic light curtain of icicles or stars will bring brightness to your kitchen and make it even more enjoyable to be in. You can attach it directly to a frame but also place it on a curtain rod or pole. Use special hooks, clear tape or the ever-popular T-pieces.
A festive wreath, which can also include lights, is a great way to decorate your window frame. You can choose a ready-made artificial wreath, but we encourage you to create your own in a natural and ecological version, made of fir or spruce branches. The one in the kitchen will look great with dried fruit, such as orange slices, pinecones, apples of paradise or cinnamon sticks. Such a decoration will not only create a climate, but also will introduce to the interior a pleasant spicy-forest fragrance
The second proposal is a garland, which you can attach to the curtain rod. Weave into it stars of Bethlehem, orange slices, bows and baubles. Icicles, licorice sticks or gingerbread men can hang from it. If you like your decorations “rich”, don’t limit yourself – Christmas is a time when you can pamper yourself and you don’t have to decide on minimalism in every aspect
The kitchen window sill is often an extra place where we store things. For Christmas time, make it more festive. You can put a small Christmas tree on it, a big star of Bethlehem, a Christmas tree, figurines of Santa Claus, reindeer, angels or snowmen, as well as a composition made of candles
However, it is worth thinking that the decorations in the kitchen should relate in form or color to the rest of the house. An interesting solution will also be to use food as decorations. Place cookies, gingerbread or fruit on a platter. A bowl full of mandarins is not only a beautiful decoration of the windowsill, but also a tasty snack that will be appreciated by every member of the household
If you or someone close to you has artistic skills or you want your children to help you decorate, you can paint your own decorations on the surface of the glass. All you need are markers for drawing on glass or special paints. Sketch your own snow village or Santa’s land. Gingerbread house drawings also look great. You don’t have to worry about the consequences, decorations of this type you can calmly wash off with a cloth and warm water after Christmas.
