Lemonade – an extremely simple and tasty drink

The benefits of lemonade were already known in 1000 AD. History says that it was drunk by Egyptians and its creation is attributed to Indians who reportedly were the first to make lemon grass-based drinks. Lemons, on the other hand, came from Africa to Asia and are now known all over the world

How to make lemonade? It is an extremely simple drink to prepare. It is based on lemons, to which sugar and water are added. Then the lemonade is made almost by itself, and its refreshing taste on warm days delights everyone. Over time, people began to experiment with different flavors of the drink, and now it can be made from almost any fruit. Below we present our chosen recipes

Classic lemonade

This is the simplest way to prepare lemonade. There is no extra fruit in it, just the fresh taste of lemons. It tastes best with ice cubes and fresh mint

Ingredients

  • 0,5 l water (can be boiled or still),
  • 3 lemons,
  • a few tablespoons of cane sugar,
  • approx. 10 mint leaves,
  • ice cubes,
  • half a glass of hot water.

Method of preparation

First, scrub the lemons and rinse the mint thoroughly. Then, squeeze the juice from the fruit. You can do it manually or use a juicer. In the next step, chop the mint into small pieces and mash with sugar. Pour hot water over the whole thing. When the mint syrup has cooled down, mix it with lemon juice in a tall decanter. Top up with cold water and mix thoroughly. Serve in glasses decorated with thinly cut lemon slices

Citrus lemonade

This drink is recommended for all orange fans. It tastes best chilled

Ingredients

  • 3 oranges,
  • 1 lemon,
  • a few tablespoons of cane sugar,
  • cold water,
  • ice cubes as desired.

Method of preparation

Peel the citrus fruits and remove all the hard membranes from them. Then squeeze the juice out of them. You can do it manually, but it is better to use a blender. Cut the fruit into pieces, put them into a bowl, add cane sugar and ¼ cup of water. Blend thoroughly. Then pour into a tall carafe and top up with water. Stir thoroughly. Serve with orange slices and ice cubes

Basil-citrus lemonade

Basil adds a slightly dry note to the lemonade. It pairs well with the lemon flavor and goes well with any dinner dish

Ingredients

  • 3 lemons,
  • fresh basil leaves,
  • 3 large spoons of honey,
  • cold water.

Method of preparation

Peel and slice the lemons. Put the sliced fruit, basil leaves and honey into a blender. Add ¼ cup of lukewarm water. Grind everything thoroughly and then pour into a carafe. Top up with water and stir. Serve the drink garnished with basil leaves and thin slices of lemon
