Stained clothes it’s a bad luck, which probably happened to everyone. It’s enough that some blouse or sock went to the wrong part of the laundry and the problem is over. What to do then? See home remedies for stained clothes.

The problem of stained clothes is quite common. Most “victims” are white fabrics, which quickly absorb intense colors from other materials. Therefore, it is important to always wash light and white clothes separately. Is it possible to save such stained clothes? In many cases, fortunately, yes, only you need to know how to do it. And home remedies for stained clothes can help!

Why do clothes dye?

How does it happen that clothes dye? Remember that this happens most often with new fabrics, which have not been washed yet. They have quite a lot of dye in the fibers, which is responsible for the intense shade. Under the influence of hot water and detergents used for washing, the pigment is released, which is called “releasing the dye or color”. This pigment is absorbed by bright fabrics and dyes them. Fortunately, all is not lost and you can usually salvage a favorite blouse that has changed its color

Vinegar can help

One of the most popular ways to save dyed clothes is to soak them in vinegar water. Pour water and 0.5-1 cup of vinegar into a tub. Put the clothes in so that they are all wet and leave them for several hours. Then wash the clothes in a washing machine. It is best to dry the laundry in the sun, then there should be no trace of discoloration

Lemon juice – a perfect solution for white clothes

Lemon juice is a great way to discolor white clothes. Sprinkle the discolored areas directly with lemon juice and put them in water. You should still add half a glass of juice and soak for a few hours, then wash. Lemon juice can also be added to washing powder or liquid

Egg shells for laundry? Absolutely!

A very old, yet really effective way to stain fabrics is to use eggshells. However, this only applies to light-colored clothes, as eggshells have bleaching properties. How to use them? The best way is to crush them and put them in a bag linen or muslin bag. Then tie them well and put them in the drum with laundry. If you have a lot of clothes, it is advisable to put a few bags in the drum. Remember to tie them tightly so that you don’t have to take them out later

Bay leaf not only in the kitchen

A little known method of saving stained clothes is bay leaf. And as it turns out, it works well not only in the kitchen. A decoction of this herb is excellent for removing stains. Put a lot of leaves into a pot (preferably a whole pack) and pour water over them. Boil the whole thing and set aside from the burner. After a few minutes, when it cools down a bit, put the stained clothes into the solution and leave it for 2 hours. Then wash them in a washing machine.

Soda for stains and discolorations

Soda works not only for stains, but also for stained clothes. Dissolve a few containers of baking soda in water and soak the clothes in it (for several hours). It is also a good idea to add baking soda to your laundry powder

Baking powder will also help

What are other home remedies for stained clothes? Baking powder can also help with stained clothes. Just put it in the drum and wash as usual. The clothes should regain their former shade

How to prevent dyeing during laundering?

To prevent dyeing of clothes, it is necessary to carefully segregate clothes. Place light, white and dark clothes separately. It’s also advisable to wash separately those fabrics, which most often emit pigment, e.g. red ones. Before putting new colored clothes into the washing machine, soak them in cold water or water with vinegar
