If you start cleaning without a specific idea, you may not be able to control the mess that will inevitably arise when rummaging through closets or other nooks and crannies of your apartment. Plan your cleaning and you will avoid unnecessary nerves. You don’t have to do the cleaning in one day. It’s best if you divide your work over several consecutive evenings. Wash the windows, plan to wash the bedding, curtains or rugs, etc. It’s also a good idea to clean one room on a given day. Phased cleaning will definitely be easier and, above all, more enjoyable.
The kitchen is the heart of your home. Pay special attention to it when organizing your autumn cleaning. Clean out all the cabinets. Throw out unnecessary and out-of-date products. Also, don’t hesitate to get rid of dishes that you don’t use. You can give them to relatives or simply sell them. Try to move every possible thing away and wipe away lingering dust. Do not hesitate to push back furniture. It’s not an easy task, but once in a while it’s definitely a good idea to take on this challenge, because the result will certainly charm you. If you don’t have allergies, you can also disinfect all surfaces i.e. countertops and refrigerator. Take special care when cleaning the kitchen – food should not come into any contact with cleaning agents, as it will become unfit for consumption.
For the living room during autumn cleaning, focus on simple tasks that are often overlooked during regular cleaning. Wash the curtains, change the curtains. See if your pillowcases need replacing. If you have wooden furniture, clean the lingering dust with products designed for such surfaces. Remember to push back cabinets and sofas. Shake out your carpets, and if they are extremely dirty, try washing them yourself or order such a service.
In the bedroom, focus on careful attention to details that will improve the quality of your sleep. Wash and change the bedding. Vacuum under the bed and cabinets. Wipe off dust and arrange everything so that the whole space becomes tidy. Take care of the plants, if you have them, so they don’t look badly cared for. Replace the curtains and – if you like, of course – buy scented candles to fill the space with beautiful scents on long, dreary evenings.
Spend more time on the bathroom than on other rooms. And don’t forget that you need to arm yourself with protective measures when cleaning surfaces with chemical detergents. Organize the space by arranging cosmetics in boxes. Wipe dust from places you forget about on a daily basis. Use products that are strong enough to remove bacteria from the entire space. Move the washing machine out of the way and reach behind the toilet seat. Don’t skip any nooks and crannies. Wash towels and stack them on shelves. Stock up on automatic air fresheners.
