Limescale is the most common cause of bathroom cleanliness problems. Due to specific conditions, it easily develops on the sink, shower stall or toilet – but it is much more difficult to remove. Read on for tips to help you win the battle against limescale.

How to remove limescale?

Do you ever wonder whether there is an effective way to clean your kitchen and remove limescale in your bathroom without costing millions? The answer is yes! And more importantly, you probably already have it in your home. This is because vinegar works perfectly well with limescale. So if you are asking yourself: how to remove limescale? We suggest using vinegar. If you do not want to overpay for household chemicals, you should use vinegar as a first aid in home cleaning.

How to remove limescale from the toilet?

Vinegar – the cure for all ailments

The magic of vinegar lies in its powerful cleaning and dissolving properties. It is an agent that is able to remove a huge amount of microorganisms. So if you clean your toilet on a regular basis and the slowly accumulating layer of scale is still fresh, don’t hesitate! Vinegar is the perfect solution.

All you have to do is rinse the edges of the toilet thoroughly with a glass of vinegar. Still have residue left? Soak a sponge with vinegar and wipe the stained areas.

Vinegar and baking soda – a duo for special tasks

The bane of your toilet is not only limescale and bacteria, but also unsightly yellow stains on the bowl. This is exactly what baking soda, another of the ingenious cleaners you have at home, can do. All you need to do is create a mixture of two tablespoons of baking soda and two tablespoons of vinegar. Once the mixture begins to resemble a thick paste, apply it to the dirt in your toilet using a sponge. Wait fifteen minutes, then rinse with warm water and… done.

Coca-Cola – beware, it is a very cleaning drink!

You may have thrown a bottle of Coca-Cola into your shopping cart. But have you ever thought of it as a substitute for detergents? Substances such as phosphoric acid, which are found in this popular fizzy drink, are able to break down the structure of scale that builds up on the toilet, making it much easier to remove.

Coca-Cola can be used not only as a delicious drink, to help with stomach problems or to clean burnt pots… but even to unblock pipes! How do you get rid of limescale with it? Just pour a bottle of cola into the toilet and leave it for about an hour. After this time, clean the bowl thoroughly with a toilet brush.

How to remove limescale from the shower glass?

When you set about cleaning your bathroom, you probably get fed up many times by the time you think about washing the shower stall – let alone actually getting around to it.

The hardest part about cleaning a shower is that the surface is not even. The shower is full of nooks and crannies, where soap residue and limescale can creep in. To clean the shower, special sponges or cloths that do not leave streaks will work great. There are also plenty of gentle cleaners to help you with this age-old battle. But what about home remedies?

Say hello again to vinegar

This will also work great for cleaning your shower glass. Mix vinegar and water in a one-to-one ratio and then apply it to the limescale-covered surface with a sponge, for example. Leave the solution for about twenty minutes and then rinse with warm water.

With such a mixture, you can clean not only the glass of the shower, but also the bathroom tiles or the faucet and shower head. They, too, often experience an attack of scale, which vinegar can perfectly deal with.

Call for help with baking soda

You’ve already encountered it when decalcifying your toilet, too. When it comes to cleaning the shower of limescale buildup, it is best to mix it with baking soda. The next step is to apply the substance on the dirty surface and leave it for fifteen minutes. Finally, just rinse with water and you’re done!
