Regularity is the key word when it comes to cleaning the kitchen. If you don’t like cleaning your kitchen, here are some tips to make this chore a pleasant routine

What to prepare for kitchen cleaning?

Good organization is essential when cleaning the kitchen. So not only should you get rid of unnecessary items, but you should also prepare everything you need to clean it so that the whole process goes smoothly The list of essential cleaning items include:

  • thick rubber gloves,
  • sponges,
  • regular and microfiber cloths,
  • paper towels,
  • a plastic bucket and mop for mopping floors,
  • dishwashing liquid,
  • vinegar, salt, baking soda and lemon

Whether you have delicate hands or not, you should put rubber gloves on your hands. Many detergents are caustic, which can lead to skin irritation or damage. If you have dirty dishes on the counter or in the sink, put them in a plastic bowl and pour warm water and dishwashing liquid over them. Another way is to place the dishes in the sink and plug the bowl with a cork and then fill it with water. By soaking the dishes you can easily remove dried food and grease. Use a sponge with a dispenser.

Note if you wash dishes in a dishwasher, arrange them according to their state of soiling the dirtiest items should be placed at the bottom of the basket. Large pots and pans that won’t fit in the machine should be washed in the sink

Kitchen cabinets – how to clean them?

When talking about a thorough kitchen cleaning, you can’t ignore the cabinets, where we keep many items or spices that are essential in the kitchen space. In order to thoroughly clean a kitchen cabinet, you should take out all the things and dishes from it. This will allow you to precisely get rid of dust and food crumbs. To clean the cabinets, it is best to use microfiber cloths that will thoroughly pick up the residue and will not leave any streaks or smudges, so we will not have extra work while cleaning. We do not need strong detergents to clean the cabinets just water and soap or dishwashing liquid

A reliable product when cleaning the kitchen is vinegar, which effectively removes scale and mold. Just add a little water to it. With the help of soda you can get rid of greasy stains. If you want to give them a scent, you can add a few drops of essential oil. Inconspicuous products, yet so effective.

Finally, clean and fragrant cabinets should be wiped with a paper towel or cloth, and then insert the kitchen accessories and products you removed earlier. Bulky items such as pasta, cereal and muesli should be placed in special food containers so that they take up less space in the cabinets and look more aesthetically pleasing. These containers will also help to prevent products from constantly spilling out

Keep your kitchen appliances clean

It goes without saying how unsightly a dirty stove, microwave or oven looks. Of course, it would be best to clean them immediately after cooking, but not everyone has this perseverance. A good solution is a thorough cleaning at least once a week. Not only to make your work easier, but also for your own comfort – after all, nobody likes cooking or baking on a dirty surface

To clean a gas stove, remove the dirty griddle and soak it for a few minutes in water with dishwashing liquid. A soft brush that won’t scratch the surface will be helpful in removing dried dirt. After a thorough scrubbing, rinse the grill with water and wipe it with a clean cloth

The surface of the electric stove is best cleaned with a mild milk. Under no circumstances should you scrub the plate with a wire or use a knife to scrape off food that has dried on it. It is best to douse them in a dishwashing liquid and wait until they soften before simply wiping them off. If the dirt is particularly difficult to remove, you can sprinkle the surface with baking soda or salt and leave it overnight. This will make it easy to remove burns and other stains in the morning.

To clean your oven, remove the grills and baking trays from the oven and wash them thoroughly with water, dishwashing liquid and a soft brush. Modern ovens have a self-cleaning option, which is a great convenience. Wipe the inside of the oven with a liquid sponge or a damp cloth. You can also use a 1:1 solution of water and vinegar or a paste with baking soda. We can clean the microwave in a similar way

Remember about the fridge!

We can’t forget about the fridge when cleaning the kitchen. Before we start cleaning it, we should unplug it and take out all the products. It’s also worth removing shelves and drawers. It is better to clean the fridge with home-made methods rather than chemical detergents. Pour warm water with baking soda or vinegar into a plastic bowl and wash the fridge walls with a sponge or damp cloth, then wipe with a dry cloth. Use the same mixture to wash the cabinets and shelves of the refrigerator

Cleaning the walls in the kitchen

Walls are especially prone to stains in the form of greasy stains from frying and dried dirt from sauces, so they should be removed immediately. To clean kitchen walls, prepare a plastic bowl filled with warm water and a sponge. Dip the slightly damp sponge in potato flour and gently rub the greasy stains on the wall. The layer of flour should be left for 5-7 minutes, and then wipe the wall with a clean, soaked sponge. Finally, pat it dry with a paper towel. And you’re done! The wall is clean

General cleaning ends with the floor

Sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor should be left until the very end because of the dust that floats around the room. You will need a broom and dustpan, a vacuum cleaner and a mop for the floor. You can use a special floor cleaning product or prepare a vinegar and water solution yourself. This will make sure that there are no streaks on the floor.

Remember that regularity is essential. Don’t ever procrastinate with cleaning or you may have trouble getting your kitchen to shine.
