How to decorate the table for Easter?

How to decorate the table for Easter?
It takes approx. 4 minutes to read this article

The house cleaned, the holly in the basket, the dishes ready – all that’s left to prepare is the table where we sit down with our family for Easter breakfast.

The classic Easter table means a white tablecloth and matching tableware. However, this is how we prepare it for every celebration. How do you add an Easter touch to it, but without losing the festive look? Here are some of our ideas!

Invite Spring

Give the table a more lively look if you place a few sprigs of boxwood at each place setting to form a small bouquet and place a garland of this evergreen in the center of the table. You can also use it to decorate dishes and put a bowl with eggs in the middle

Green always goes with white, so you can use green accents all over the table – tie glasses with dark green ribbons and stick green twigs behind them, use chives to decorate salads and eggs, replace the napkin in the bread basket with a green one or with plant motifs.

The boxwood garland in the center of the table can be replaced by a bouquet of basil and budding fruit tree branches in a tall vase. If your home prepares a colorful palm tree, you can use it as an additional decorative element by sticking it in the very center of the bouquet.

Hare’s table

Why not decorate your table with handmade salt dough figurines? It takes some time to make this decoration, but the advantage of the idea is that you can also hire children to do it From a cup of salt, a cup of flour and half a cup of water knead a flexible dough, the consistency of which is reminiscent of hot modeling clay

We make egg-shaped ovals and smaller rolls and balls out of it. After sharpening the ends and flattening with a toothpick, attach the rollers to the egg, creating rabbit ears, and glue the ball on the opposite side as a tail. All that’s left to do is mark the eyes and whiskers and then dry our rabbits – leave them for about 48 hours, turning every 12 hours, or dry them in a slightly ajar oven preheated to 50°C, turning every hour, for four to six hours.

For their preparation you can also use colored dyes (then it is better to knead the dough with gloves), just reduce the amount of water (in the case of liquid and gel dyes – the powdered ones just mix with flour).

Place such bunnies on the table between dishes, on the napkin, next to the place settings, in a word, where we think they will look the best. Colorful salt mass bunnies can be mixed with chocolate bunnies, which can then be used as small gifts for your fellow guests.

Ribbons, flowers, Easter eggs

Deciding on one muted color used for table decorations, such as the dark green in the first idea from our article, will keep the look chic. However, if you prefer a less formal celebratory mood, you can let the white tablecloth and dishes be the backdrop for a colorful improvisation

Place floral napkins by the place settings, decorate the cutlery with ribbons (an interesting idea is to prepare so called bows on the fork, but not to pull them from its tines after tying and trimming the ends), put a colourful origami in the shape of a flower in the middle of each plate or fold colourful napkins into an accordion, bend it in half, and then stick the resulting fan in transparent glasses.

The center of the table cannot remain white either – put colourful Easter eggs or chocolate eggs between the bowls, wrap ribbons around the bread basket, and attach crepe flowers to the bowls.

This idea will work provided that we keep moderation. We cannot allow the composition to look chaotic, and the colors to conflict with each other. It is best to choose one shade of each preferred color and try to have all decorations – Easter eggs, ribbons, flowers – in this color. While greens that are a tone lighter than intended will not significantly affect the look of the table, mixing pastel, bottle and neon greens with other colors so as not to create a kitsch effect can already be a challenge.
