Choosing a place to store medications
The most important criterion to which we should refer when choosing a storage place is the placement of drugs out of the sight of children. This also applies to those medications that can be commonly purchased at the pharmacy without a prescription. In case there are children or grandchildren in the apartment permanently or periodically, the best solution will be to lock the medicines in a cabinet with a key lock. This will make sure that no pills fall into the wrong hands. Medicines should also be hidden in this way from adults, but who lack critical thinking, e.g. due to dementia or illness.
Medicines should not be hidden in these places:
- bathroom cabinets;
- cabinets shared with food items;
- areas where toxic agents or flammable substances are stored;
- spaces where pets have access.
